The world is heading into a climate crisis. The overwhelming majority of the world’s scientists have warned us that as fossil fuels heat up the environment, global temperatures will rise – and then extreme weather events ( wildfires, hurricanes, droughts and floods ) will soar. It is already happening.
President Trump seems to have no clue about this. In fact, his actions are accelerating the crisis. He continues to promote fossil fuel use over green energy alternatives. He has weakened the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by placing fossil fuel promoters as EPA directors. The first director was Scott Pruitt who resigned in disgrace, followed by Andrew Wheeler, a former coal lobbyist.
Trump wants to be re-elected so that he can continue these environmental policies. He recently appointed Louis DeJoy, as Postmaster General. DeJoy has weakened the postal system during a COVID 19 crisis when mail-in voting will increase.
Woodward’s latest interviews have revealed how Trump lied to the American people. This permitted the COVID virus to take hold in America and gave the USA the world’s worst COVID-19 statistics.
I am writing this because I originally came to the USA to study Christianity and learn more about the teachings of Jesus. Fran and I subsequently got involved in the civil right struggles in the South. By his own admission, Donald Trump has no understanding of his white privilege. He also spews venom on anyone who disagrees with him. And he lies constantly. To top it all off, a majority of white evangelical Christians have voted for this man, who is the most unchristian president that the USA has ever seen. If Jesus were to return, he would weep!
